I’ve lost my fingerprints (English follows)
We took a quick, two night trip to Hong Kong. Coming back, I confidently approached the document readers in Immigration, placed my Permanent Residence Card on the reader, looked at the camera, the turnstile opened, and I approached the fingerprint readers. I placed my index fingers on the readers… zilch. Nothing happened. I tried again, and again, but nothing happened. An Immigration Policeman saw this, and told me to rub my fingers alongside my nose to get some oil, but still nothing happened. He told me to try another aisle, but still, the readers didn’t respond to my fingerprints. I told him, I really do have fingerprints!
He sent me to the counter, where they have more delicate readers. Still no response. The Immigration Police lady there got out some ointment, I oiled up my fingers, nothing. I dried my fingers, nothing. I rubbed my fingers to warm them, nothing. Thumbs. Nothing. Middle fingers. Nothing. Can I ever get home? She sent me to have my documents checked manually, and bing bang boom, I was through.
Looking carefully, I can barely find the fingerprints my parents supplied! No wonder I’ve been having trouble turning on my laptop. The problem may stem from soap. A while back, when we bought something, we were given two cakes of soap, but they’re not very good, so I’ve been using them to wash my hands. They have washed away my fingerprints! This may be the time to take up safecracking.
